Challenges

The Santa Clara River Watershed is experiencing ongoing challenges to its native riparian landscape and the ecosystem services it is able to provide to Southern California for a variety of reasons, such as:

• Invasive species
• Urban sprawl, development, and human impact
• Drought/wildfire/flooding
• Climate change
• Agricultural runoff
• Loss of state and federal funding for management and restoration efforts
